DCYC Negotiations
DCYC members have been embattled in negotiations for over a year’s time.
This is the first time that collective leadership has been formed in the way of three ladies from diverse backgrounds and job classifications have led the charge. Far too long the membership at DCYC has been tasked with the overwhelming responsibility of supporting the most troubled youth in the community and have yet to receive the appreciation that is so greatly deserved. With a new group at the table who are eager and hungry to fight for fairness and a safe working environment we are proud to highlight Ms. Matthews, Ms. Yasmeer and Ms. Chatman. The work and effort that has gone into the contract negotiations has been tireless and in the end the women have put on the table something that most members will be happy to view. This includes wage increases, shift differential increase, additional holiday, trainer pay and looking into the future effects of the new detention center. Thank you, ladies, for fighting and making AFSCME Local 251 proud. A response is expected from the Douglas County negotiations team on November 22, 2022. We are anticipating that we will be able to present this response to the body for explanation. Following the explanation meeting we will schedule a date for contract voting to be held at DCYC.
